Vans is adding to its Paris Fashion Week collaboration haul with a two-pack by Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD, Shinsuke Takizawa’s imprint lending its name to simple black and white colorways distinguished by premium materials and understated branding.
Vans and NEIGHBORHOOD are no strangers to one another, the two sharing a rich collaborative history going back nearly two decades, with plenty of Authentics mixed in along the way. Arriving in black and chalk white suede, the Authentic here takes on NBHD’s militaristic aesthetic via dog tag-like text over the toe box, debossed into the suede so as to preserve the monotone palette. The sidewalls are the main focal point, featuring etched serif text reading “Craft With Pride Tokyo Est. 1994,” a nod to NBHD’s founding year. The pack is a departure from the boho chic aesthetic that’s made the Vans Authentic trending in recent seasons (a la the Greg Betty-designed “Souvenir” series), catering instead to a more traditional, clean, and contemporary-minded fan.
