The upper is built around a thermal-camera heat map. A yellow-to-orange-to-red glow spreads across the toe and between the stripes, then fades into collegiate purple mesh. Glossy black overlays cage the side panels, and the silver stripes carry a printed MENACE hit on the lateral side.
Out back, black textile with a tonal diamond-plate pattern wraps the heel counter, with a silver gothic “M” emblem on one side and a silver adidas logo on the other. A yellow MENACE tab sits on the heel collar, the tongue labels read “MENACE Los Angeles,” and a purple midsole rides on a black rubber outsole.
What Does “Heat Signature” Mean?
The name points to thermal imaging, which shows heat as shifting bands of color. MENACE used that look to picture the effort behind the brand’s 13 years.
“The Heat Signature Adistar Control 5 is really about the work people don’t see,” Mena said in the release. “Thermal imagery became a way of making that effort visible.” He framed the shoe as a nod to the people who keep putting in the hours when nobody is watching.
