At the onset of the Swoosh’s bring-back of forgotten ACG models, you could have (and we did) ascribed them as “cult classic” style returns, olive branches to the truly dedicated portions of the Nike fanbase who had pored over archival photos for years. No doubt, that mission still applies to kicks like the Nike ACG Izy. Yet the increased focus on the label makes it just one piece of an overall effort to make the sub-line a real titan once more.

As shoes like the Goadome and Ultrafly Trail deliver on style-forward and performance quadrants, the Izy and Rufus are back in vogue in a quirkier category. Part moccasin, part trail shoe, the Izy delivers a “Black/Life Lime/Vivid Purple” colorway as part of a new set of fresh editions between it and its sibling. Though black takes up most of the attention on this shoe as a whole, those vibrant sections tap into the heart of ACG design language, famous for pitting neutral overtones against more expressive interplay in true ’90s fashion.
