Far before he suited up in a Houston Rockets jersey, Kevin Durant’s status in the Lone Star State was cemented. Though a burgeoning Slim Reaper would only wear burnt orange for a season before heading to Seattle, his name is still stamped in the record books: all-time leader in single-season scoring, second in single-season rebounding, and second in most rebounds in a single game.
It’s only right, then, that Durant looks back on those days when he became a national phenomenon, something he’s frequently done in the realm of footwear. The recent retro run of the Nike KD 4 brought perhaps the most iconic “Texas” colorway back to shelves, while his current signature issued a more tacit embrace via an “Away” style formulation that wore a skull motif to gesture at the Longhorns.
The league MVP is no longer playing it coy, however, as the latest Nike KD 18 “Texas” to hit the ‘wire is a player exclusive handed to the actual team’s athletes. Texas Men’s Basketball took to their social channels to flex a pair in patented orange and white, sporting a pronounced Longhorn logo on the heel. For some extra pop, the overlays take on a reflective shine to truly shine in those Kodak moments.
Obviously, the Nike KD 18 “Texas” PE will remain exactly that: an exclusive for UT athletes. However, there’s still plenty to take in from afar. Catch some in-gym shots included below.
