Jordan Brand’s renewed focus on the post-Chicago era continues with the emergence of a new Air Jordan 15 colorway. A first look at the upcoming Air Jordan 15 “Snakeskin” has emerged, a striking reinterpretation of one of the polarizing models in the Air Jordan lineage.

The sneaker arrives dressed in an all-black color scheme, but the most notable update comes at the mid-foot, where a textured snakeskin panel replaces the woven material traditionally associated with the silhouette. The images shared reveal the retail version and a second pair that features some post-production customization via spraypaint.

Originally released in 1999 and into 2000, the Air Jordan 15 represented a turning point for the franchise. It was the first numbered Air Jordan introduced following Michael Jordan’s final departure from the Chicago Bulls and arrived during a period in which the brand was beginning to imagine a future beyond its championship years. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the model drew inspiration from the X-15 fighter jet, resulting in one of the most aggressive, futuristic, and unfortunately disliked designs ever to carry the Jumpman logo.

That futuristic DNA is why the silhouette feels relevant to the newer generation of Jordan fans. Over the last several years, Jordan Brand has steadily increased its attention on the post-Chicago chapter of the Air Jordan line, bringing renewed visibility to models like the Air Jordan 15, 16, 17, and other models often overlooked by the more recent fanbase of Jordan Retros. These designs have found new appreciation among younger consumers who gravitate toward their unconventional shapes and adaptability to baggier pants and bottoms.

The “Snakeskin” edition continues that evolution of the Air Jordan 15; recently, we saw the “Black/Muslin” edition experiment with the original build by adding lifestyle-focused executions via the frayed and extended edges. The Snakeskin is a clear-cut take on luxury footwear, bridging the exotic materials with one of Tinker Hatfield’s most obscure Air Jordans ever.
