Back to the Future turned forty years old in 2025. While celebratory sneakers have been sparse, Converse is here to save the day. The brand has cooked up a limited-edition release of the Chuck Taylor All-Star, with special movie-related details added.

Back to the Future is not only an iconic movie & franchise, but is also hugely important to sneaker culture. In the first film, Marty McFly wears a white pair of the Nike Bruin, and in the sequel, Tinker Hatfield & Nike created the iconic MAG, the auto lacing sneaker that became a reality in 2016 with Nike’s Adapt technology. That fad has come and gone, but the movies remain an essential part of film history. With Back to the Future turning forty years old in 2025, we are getting at least one sneaker release to celebrate.

However, this release does not come directly from Nike, surprisingly. Instead, Converse has taken up the mantle for the anniversary project, despite not playing quite as large a role in the films as Nike shoes did. Nonetheless, the All Star was immensely popular in 1985, and is still a suitable choice for this release. The classic black colorway is the base for this drop, adding aged details to the midsoles and laces for a well-worn look. The heels taping adds the date & time stamp from the DeLorean time machine’s readout (October 26th, 2025, 01:22 AM), as a both a nod to the film and the shoe’s release date. Inside, the shoes feature both the OG film logo and special anniversary branding.

BACK TO THE FUTURE X CONVERSE ALL STAR RELEASE INFORMATION

The upcoming release from Converse celebrating the anniversary of Back to the Future is currently expected to release on October 26th, 2025, though this date is not official quite yet. The standard black colorway of the Chuck All Star commemorates the movie with special branding on the inside and custom packaging, and will be available from both Converse and select retailers for approximately $115.
