At this point, it’s undeniable that the Miu Miu x New Balance 530 was the brand’s biggest moment in stepping over from sportstyle to fashion, easily an inductee into their modern collaborative Hall of Fame. In truth, that link-up was so influential as to warp the Boston giant’s catalog, with the New Balance 204L doing well to distance itself from that shared design but nonetheless tapping into the same “low profile” atmosphere that series had in a chokehold.

It’s only right that another one of NB’s vaunted high fashion partners gets a spin on the new silhouette. AURALEE, having run rampant through kicks like the 1906R, T500, 990v4, WRPD Runner, and plenty more, is finally letting loose a link-up previewed in Paris last summer. For those who have caught their faux-aged, yellowed work before, neither colorway on tap for the AURALEE x New Balance 204L should ultimately be too shocking.

The lighter of the two is most comprehensive in embracing that hallmark, utilizing it both on the sole unit and with branching leather overlays. The rest of the shoe leans on steely neutrals, hitting shale blue on the heel and grey at the underpinning mesh. The darker is an exercise in formality, coating the 204L almost comprehensively in rich brown suede in the uppers, but finding space for that weathered tonality in its midsole.

The AURALEE x New Balance 204L capsule is due out on May 22nd via AURALEE before a wide launch takes place on May 29th, dropping via NewBalance.com, KITH, Dover Street Market, and a variety of partnering retailers. Catch official images below as we parse out further launch details.
