It's been over five years since Asphaltgold and ASICS brought forth their colorful take on the GEL-DS trainer. Now, the two have reunited to take on one of ASICS' newest silhouettes: the EX89. Launching last year as a modern take on the GEL Extreme from the '80s, the EX89 blends basketball heritage with modern styling. Now, with the "Impromptu" collaboration, the duo has reimagined the concept through a music lens -- particularly with respect to jazz.Tapping into the spontaneity associated with impromptu performances, the structure of the shoe sees nuanced material placement and color usage. Nubuck, hairy suede and soft leather all combine at the upper while satin notes appear at the lining.
