Singapore-based Foxtrot Uniform, a brand "born out of the love of vintage sneakers" has unveiled a collaboration with ASICS SportStyle, utilizing the EX89 as the basis for a neo-vintage styled silhouette.The ASICS SportStyle EX89, a reimagined version of the 1989 GEL-EXTREME, originally designed by Toshikazu Kayano, represents a blend of heritage and innovation. Celebrated for its stability and GEL cushioning technology, the GEL-EXTREME was a favorite among professional athletes. Today, the EX89 has been adapted for daily wear while retaining its iconic design features, like its bold color blocking, layered leather panels and a distinctive outsole pattern.Notably, the sneaker has been enhanced with FF BLAST cushioning for lightweight responsiveness, a sculpted heel for improved stability and an outsole pattern inspired by the aerial view of a city, paying homage to Kayano's first U.S. business trip in 1987.Foxtrot Uniform has given the EX89 its unique neo-vintage treatment -- including chalky edges, aged soles, faux glue stains and cracked leather panels.
