Takedown sneaker models are something of a tradition in the basketball world, for brands to offer a more affordable version of a popular model. This year, Anthony Edwards will join the long history of takedown shoes with the Believe That 1, coming this Summer.

In basketball footwear, takedown models have long played a crucial role in broadening a signature line’s reach. Brands like Nike, adidas, and Under Armour often release streamlined, lower-priced versions of flagship sneakers tied to stars such as LeBron James or Kevin Durant. These models typically feature simplified cushioning setups and more accessible materials while retaining core the design language of flagship models. For younger athletes and everyday players, takedowns offer performance credibility at a friendlier price point. This year, Anthony Edwards will become the latest player to add a secondary sneaker to his signature line, the adidas Believe That 1. The shoe’s name comes from the catch phrase used throughout adi’s ad campaigns for the AE sneakers, and combines the inner workings of the AE1 with the jagged cage construction of the AE2. For now, we don’t know what technology is hidden inside, but the model will debut with at least two colorways, a neon red style and a triple black look.

Anthony Edwards’ expansion of his signature sneaker line with adidas is currently expected to arrive during Summer, on June 1st, 2026. The Believe That 1 combines design cues from both his flagship AE1 and AE2 silhouettes, with a much more approachable price tag of $100. Pairs will debut in two colors, neon red and triple black, and will release from both adidas and select retailers.
