New Balance’s collaborative rolodex now includes names from all over the world; where else could Coco Gauff, Jack Harlow, and Teddy Santis be listed alongside one another? Even in that growing constellation, Amine has been one of the more intriguing aces the Boston brand has recruited, having truly singular taste and interests that’ve led to eccentric fare like the multicolor “Best Day Ever” or his converted 610 series, the latter putting his love for the outdoors on full display.

Fall 2026 is now confirmed to deliver Amine’s first take on the Made in USA series, via the New Balance 992 “Outdoor School.” A Portland native, his love for nature and adventurous hobby set stems from a state-funded program that provides schoolchildren of a certain age with a chance to truly learn about the outside world in the elements. Or, as the man himself states on special edition packaging:

Outdoor School has been operated since 1957 in Oregon. It’s one of the most innovative field science programs in the country. Growing up everyone knew, when you got to 6th grade you’d get to leave school for a week to go to one of their many campsites to learn about soil, water, plants, and animals. They took your flip phone away and any electronic devices so that you could fully imerse [sic] yourself in the outdoors (very Oregonian).

I packed my sleeping bag and hopped on the biggest yellow school bus to head to Milk Creek. As we arrived they gave each of us a wood cookie to write our names on and instructed us to personalize our necklaces with charms, small trinkets, and anything we felt like adding to the very personal item. At the time it was basically just our name tags… but now it represents so much nostalgia and memories of home. I’m so happy I’ve kept mine till this day because I don’t think this special collaboration with New Balance would have ever happened if I didn’t see it still hanging on my bedroom door 3 years ago when I was home for Christmas.

As an Oregonian, it makes me so proud to be able to tell this story because I know how much ODS has done for our community. Outdoor School was my introduction to the outdoors, new friends, and my overall interest now as an adult. You don’t need money to enjoy mother earth (but you do need $220 MSRP for these shoes). That “wood cookie” arrives as a personalized hangtag, sitting above a campfire-like blend of brown suede under and overlays, which sandwich the true material innovation: deep red patent leather panels in the spaces between. Flip underneath and you’ll see the sole unit makes room for even more color, as a blue stripe in the traction pairs with blue/gold and red/green midfoot plates to help add that level of trademark eccentricity. Customized boxes represent fishing kits on their tops, conceptually aligned with a charm set that comes with each pair.
