Jordan Brand will pay tribute to the Chicago Bulls’ 1993 Eastern Conference Finals victory over the New York Knicks with the release of the “Knicks” Air Jordan 8. The Bulls would win the series against the Knicks 4 -2 and go on to the NBA Finals. Ultimately, the Bulls and Michael Jordan would win the NBA Championship against the Phoenix Suns, 4-2. This would also mark MJ’s first three-peat.
Some of you may remember that I talked about a “Cavs” Air Jordan 8 launching. Jordan Brand has changed the style code for the shoes and is officially calling them the New York Knicks, which makes more sense than “Cavs.” The original colorway derived from the shades used resembles the “Cavs” Air Jordan 4.
This Air Jordan 8 is dressed in a Black, Safety Orange, and Racer Blue color combination. Take note that the photo used is only a mock-up, and I haven’t seen a photo of what the shoes will look like. However, due to the color description, expect Black to be used throughout with accents of Orange and Blue on the tongue, midsole, and mudguard. The look is completed with a mostly Black rubber outsole.

Bottom Line
The Air Jordan 8 has had a solid run over the past few years, and the “Knicks” colorway adds another chapter to that story. Jordan Brand connecting this release to the 1993 Eastern Conference Finals is smart; it gives the shoe context beyond just another color swap, and tying it to the Bulls-Knicks rivalry makes it resonate with people who were watching basketball in the early ’90s. The Black, Safety Orange, and Racer Blue palette should work well on the Air Jordan 8 silhouette, and even though we are working off a mock-up right now, the description alone paints a clear picture.
