Jordan Brand continues to lean into nostalgia, and bringing back the “Carmine” Air Jordan 6 is a move that will always get attention. Last released in 2021, the return in 2027 comes sooner than some expected, but this is one of those colorways that never really sits for long. Featuring one of the most recognizable designs from the Air Jordan 6 line, the “Carmine” stands out thanks to its bold color blocking.
Air Jordan 6 Carmine History
The “Carmine” Air Jordan 6 is packed with history, dating back to 1991, when the sneakers were first released. Michael Jordan would also wear the model to win his first NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls. Fast forward to 2008, and we would see the shoes retro for the first time. However, it was part of the “Countdown Pack” series. Along with the “Carmine,” you got the Air Jordan 17. The two pairs equal the number 23, which helped celebrate the release of the Air Jordan 23.
For the first time since 1991, you could buy the “Carmine” Jordan 6 by itself in 2014. This release featured a Jumpman on the heel, and people were not a fan of the shape. The last time the shoes were released was in 2021. For the 2021 release, the shape was updated, and it featured Nike Air branding, which is what most people wanted.
2027 Details
As with previous releases, we can expect the classic White, Carmine Red, and Black color combination. I love the Air Jordan 6 “Carmine.” It’s a classic colorway that I am sure everyone will enjoy. However, there are other original Air Jordan 6 colorways that need to be retroed. For example, the “Sport Blue” last dropped in 2014 and has never been re-released with Nike Air. Those should be next up to drop. But for some reason, we are getting another “Carmine” release. JB could also have brought back the “Maroon” pair. A lot of people love that shoe. I guess we will have to wait longer for those two pairs to return.
