It feels like every few weeks, the basketball world’s attention turns to a new budding silhouette. In the past few months, anticipation has shifted from the Nike KD 19 to the Sabrina 4, and will soon shift to the Ja 4, adidas Anthony Edwards 3, and on, and on, and on. In that mix, the Air Jordan 40 certainly isn’t the latest object of fascination, made a bit more low-key by a limited overall release strategy. We can certainly give the design itself its flowers, celebrated on a performance level and giving way to a genuinely innovative and exciting series with the crate-digging remix effort that looked to kicks like the Jordan 28, Jordan 23, or Jordan 14.

The totemic signature line continues with the Air Jordan 41, sunsetting its predecessor but nonetheless carrying the torch for what could be a new chapter in the longest-running numbered line. With us recently crossing the one-year anniversary, timing would tell us that, and your typical big-box retailers are beginning to upload backend info regarding the eventual launch.

Only mock-up images are available at the time of this writing, but the ever-reliable cadre of leakers (in this case, a four-man effort between @brandon1an, @zsneakerheadz, @sneakermarketro, and Sneaker Files) allows us to get a preliminary sense of what to expect. As depicted below, aesthetic details like mesh uppers, bootie interiors, and a carbon-fiber midfoot plate à la the Jordan 11 are slated. From a hardware standpoint, a Cushlon 3.0 midsole, forefoot ZoomX, rear Zoom Air, and a full-length Zoom Air strobel are reported, continuing the pinnacle blend that made the Jordan 40 such a high performer.

The Air Jordan 41 is already appearing on retailer calendars for the top of August, but this could simply be a placeholder date before a firm one is announced. In the meantime, check out the mock-up imagery included below, but note that the final product will likely differ.
