While some say 2026 won’t match 2025, Jordan Brand will try. As we still have the Holiday 2026 releases to leak, I can confirm that one of the pairs that will debut again is the “Bred” Air Jordan 4. Last released in 2024 in Regimagined form, prior to that, we saw the classic pair drop in 2019.
Air Jordan 4 Bred History
The first time we saw the “Bred” Air Jordan 4 release was in 1989, and it is one of the original four colorways that were released. Michael Jordan would also wear this pair during the 1989 NBA All-Star Game, where he scored 28 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, recorded 4 steals, and 4 blocks.

The first retro release was in 1999, and today most of those pairs are unwearable because the midsoles have fallen apart. Unless you get a sole-swape. In 2008, Jordan Brand relaunched the shoes, this time as part of the “Countdown” Pack series. Along with this Air Jordan 4 came the Air Jordan 19. The two shoes equal 23, and the pack was one of many celebrating the release of the Air Jordan 23.
We would see another retro drop in 2012. While many were happy to see this pair launch again, it did come with a Jumpman on the heel (like the Countdown Pack), and the shape was far from the original mold. Fast forward to 2019, Jordan Brand would release the pair again, this time with Nike Air branding. It didn’t take long for this iteration to sell out.
The pair was last released in 2024 and is known as the “Bred Reimagined” Air Jordan 4. This pair did come with an updated shape and Nike Air. However, it was constructed from leather rather than nubuck.
2026 Details
As for the 2026 pair, this Air Jordan 4 will feature the signature Black, Cement Grey, Summit White, and Fire Red colorway. You can expect nubuck across the upper covered in Black, while the traditional Nike Air branding appears on the heels, insoles, and outsole. Fire Red accents appear on the Jumpman logo, inside the tongue, and are hinted at on the sole.

The biggest difference between the 2026 and 2019 pairs is their shape. Jordan Brand will make this pair as close to the original form as possible and feature the OG (SB Shape, as some would call it) mold. Some might not mind the 2019 mold, but the purest tend to go after pairs that are specifically modified to reflect the initial drop.

Air Jordan 4 Bred 2026 Release Date
The Air Jordan 4 “Bred” will be released during the Holiday 2025 season at select Jordan Brand retailers, including Nike.com, Finish Line, Foot Locker, JD Sports, Hibbett, and DSG. Bottom Line
I love the “Bred” Air Jordan 4, and I try to buy every release. I am only missing the 1989 and 1999 pairs. So for me, this is a no-brainer pickup. I honestly felt the 2019 was fine, but yes, it did lack the OG mold. Some may pass because they own the last release, while I am sure others will be happy to hear it. Furthermore, it’s a popular colorway, and I am sure it won’t take long to sell out, even with some popular colorways sitting.
