Deion Sanders shoes remains a bustling sub-category for the Swoosh, as the return of the Nike Air DT Max ’96 established and the Nike Diamond Turf proper continued about a year later. As the Swoosh’s renewed relationship with the two-sport superstar continues, Nike is keeping things in chronological order, now visiting the 1994 design in its original red. Dropped during his first season in the Bay Area (and his first outside of Atlanta), the breathable quarter panel and midfoot strap remained from Sanders’ first signature, though the former added a grid-like leather overlay and the latter focused on rounded cut-outs. Fittingly, a 49ers-agreeable colorway was among the first to hit shelves, and is the first to usher the model back onto the market for its 22nd anniversary.
Of course, those who tune into NFL action will know that the modern legacy of Deion Sanders’ work is defined by its cleat conversions, as the sawtooth design of the DT Max ’96 became one of the most common on-foot sights on Sundays this past season.
