The P350 Adds to New Balance’s Growing Basketball Offerings

New Balance has unveiled their new basketball sneakers ahead of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, showing off two new models for their on-court offerings. The low-top P350 is seen here, dressed in an “Inkwell” blue color scheme for its debut next week.

New Balance first entered basketball in the early 1980s with the 480 model, its first hardwood shoe designed for traction and comfort. In 1989, the brand released the 550 (originally P550), a low-top leather hoop sneaker that became a classic of the era. After decades mostly focused on running and lifestyle, New Balance revived its basketball category in 2018, signing NBA stars like Kawhi Leonard and expanding performance models. The Boston brand has slowly filled out their on-court offerings over the last few years, unveiling two of their latest additions this week.

Our first glimpse of New Balance’s upcoming basketball footwear came from a runway show, oddly enough. The show, which showcased an upcoming collection from Junya Watanabe, featured a blacked-out pair of the P400, the mid-cut silhouette in NB Basketball’s new arsenal. Just days later, the P350 has surfaced, showing off a distinctly lower-cut silhouette in an “Inkwell” color scheme. Little is known about the shoe’s tech specs right now, but its mixed-material paneling is ripe for some interesting color blocking, which we expect to see much more of soon.

The new silhouette is the low-top counterpart to their P400 basketball shoe, another model unveiled this week.
