Michael Jordan famously described the Air Jordan 11 as a shoe that’d pair with formalwear, eventually bearing out in countless prom, graduation, and even wedding photos that circulate on the sneaker internet each spring and summer. Though the footwear obsessives were never held back from doing so regardless of the colorway, Jordan Brand leaned into the punch in 2018, following up 2013’s Gamma with the Air Jordan 11 “Cap and Gown,” a fully blacked-out version of the beloved silhouette that wore graduation aspirations from title to toe.
Nearly a decade later, the same concept appears on the Air Jordan 6 “Cap and Gown.” In contrast to its younger sibling, the AJ6 breaks a bit from an entirely-murdered out profile, leaning on a hallmark of the AJ5 with 3M trim interspersed within a nubuck build. Doubling down on that grey interplay, silver caps on the midsole evoke the Air Jordan 6 “Chrome,” bringing some throwback, golden age flair into this modern invention.
