The yearly Doernbecher x Nike, Inc. collection is almost upon us, and Zach Rumbaugh’s overhaul of the Air Jordan 17 is quickly emerging as the most coveted in the group. That shoe releases on January 17th, retailing for $230. While SNKRS will be the primary release method, select retail partners are also receiving stock. Find a list of all within our “Where to Buy” widget, and scroll further for a store-by-store breakdown.

All three retail partners for this capsule (DTLR, Shoe Palace, SNIPES) are presumably moving forward with in-person only releases. Snipes will be releasing at three doors: two in New York (1852 3rd Avenue and 136 W 125th Street) and one in Detroit, at 14157 Telegraph Rd. Lastly, Shoe Palace has not let loose information on how they’ll handle their drop, but we’ll keep you posted as that comes to light.
There are rarely any shoes in the annual Doernbecher collection that get overlooked, but stretching to the start of the charity-driven initiative, the numbered Jordan Retro is always the box office smash. That’s no different for the 2026 chapter, especially as Zach Rumbaugh took his talents to the Air Jordan 17, itself already amid a resurgence and its most expansive bring-back effort in years. Adding some additional intrigue for the collectors, this marks the first release of the Air Jordan 17 High in over a decade.
As with all Doernbecher colorways, there are some weighty narrative elements at play with Zach Rumbaugh’s edition, centered around his recovery from a rare heart condition. 38 is a repeated motif throughout the shoe, harkening to the 38-day stay at Doernbecher after his heart quite literally stopped. On an aesthetic level, it’s Rumbaugh’s passion for automobiles that results in the palette at work, as the color-shifting finish through the upper mirrors custom body wraps. Quilted collars and interiors hit on that of luxury cars. For some final closing touches, a cat face toward the toe hits on his love for animals, while the insoles pour out all that brings him joy, from guitars to beaches to family.
