Vans OTW Keeps Its Hot Streak Going With An Engineered Garments Collab

Following a Chanel-inspired Old Skool capsule that took the internet by storm, OTW by Vans is keeping its momentum going by partnering up with a familiar face. Daiki Suzuki’s Engineered Garments, which has a close relationship with Vans that goes back decades, is adding to its collaborative portfolio with two fresh Slip-On colorways on August 30th.

Engineered Garments has worked on several Vans silhouettes over the years, but it’s best known for its work on the Slip-On. While much of the Engineered Garments’ Vans backlog consists of neutral sneakers in-line with the brand’s core palette, this latest delivery is all about storytelling through color.

Two mismatched Slip-On colorways are on tap, led by a red and blue pair that tributes the first ever Vans model in the Authentic (originally called the Style #44). Early Vans devotees, namely iconic skater Tony Alva, would rock mismatched red and blue Authentics as one sneaker would wear down quicker than the other. Vans’ first true skate shoe in the Era (Style #95) would later debut in a red/blue colorway for that reason, and such is the reference alluded to the Engineered Garments collab we have before us today. The other colorway is one of a more low-key variety, taken with the same mismatched color blocking but in black/navy blue. Both looks feature white sidewalls, OTW branding at the heel, and that essential gum brown outsole underfoot.

The Engineered Garments Vans Slip-Ons release August 28th via vans.com/otw, priced at $100 a pop. See official images below if you’re moved to cop a pair.
