Nike has more special-edition Kobe Protro styles in the works for 2026. This week, new leaks suggest that the colorful MambaCurial Kobe 8, a colorway celebrating Nike soccer cleats, will make its return next year.

Nike’s Kobe line has a fascinating thread of soccer-cleat–inspired colorways, rooted in Bryant’s love for football. The Nike Kobe 4 was originally designed with a low-cut profile modeled after soccer cleats, bringing agility and speed to the court. The Swoosh’s Soccer division has also borrowed style from the Kobe team, using the fan-favorite “Grinch” colorway on a pair of the VaporEdge cleats. In 2010, the Nike Kobe 6 released in a “MambaCurial” color scheme, which pulled bright colors and branding elements from the Mercurial line. This theme was repeated through several of Bryant’s signature models, including the 2013 Kobe 8.

This week, new leaks regarding a MambaCurial Kobe 8 have seemingly confirmed a rerelease of the iconic colorway in 2026. The 8, now upgraded to the performance-driven Protro format, will recreate the original color scheme to a T, bringing back the same vibrant tones and oversized Nike branding. The look features vivid pink shade for the upper, which features a gradient pattern that gets darker from toe to heel. Massive Swooshes cover the toe box in Electric Green with outsoles to match, while the Nike wordmark is added to the medial wall heel of the shoe.

Nike has not formally announced an upcoming release for this Kobe 8, but pairs are confirmed to be releasing sometime in 2026. Rehashing the popular “MambaCurial” colorway inspired by the Swoosh’s soccer cleats, the new Protro version will be available through both Nike and select retailers. Pricing for this pair is expected to be $200.
