The Nike Dunk Low Gets a Kobe-Inspired “Draft Day” Look

Nike has been going crazy with Kobe releases in the last few years, delivering both Protro shoes and special lifestyle releases. This year, we’ll get another casual sneaker in the form of the Dunk Low, dressed in a special “Draft Day” color scheme.

1996 is one of the most important years in both sneaker and basketball history. The year is largely considered one of the greatest sneaker eras of all time, thanks to an incredible lineup of on-court and running shoes from Nike. In the NBA, ’96 is also regarded as one of the greatest draft classes in history, with a number of high-profile names that have gone on to be some of the greatest players of all time. Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Stephon Marbury, and of course, Kobe Bryant, were all selected in the first round that year. Kobe was originally selected by the Hornets, as a part of a trade deal with the Lakers, who kept their choice secret from the Hornets until minutes before the selection was made. This year, Nike will celebrate that moment in Kobe’s career with a special release of the DUnk Low. The pair features a white leather base with snakeskin textured overlays, cast in shimmering purple and electric blue for the Hornets. The pair also features a reworked outsole traction pattern, adding the Kobe logo to the iconic silhouette.

Featuring the Dunk Low in a Hornets’ color scheme with snakeskin textures, the pair features reworked details like a Kobe logo on the outsoles. Pairs will be available from Nike and select retailers for $135.
