“When they go high, we go low” is evidently the motto for Nike as of late. The brand has rethought plenty of their maximalist icons in recent years, taking kicks like the Spizike or the Air More Uptempo into chopped-down builds, sometimes striking exactly the right balance and minting new high-earners, as was the case with the former Jumpman offering.

The Nike Air DT Max ’96 was already a well-received retro in its own right, the first Deion Sanders shoes to come back to the market after he and Beaverton peaced things up towards the start of the decade. With two additional bring-backs now under their belt in the Air Diamond Turf and Air Diamond Turf 2, the renewed partnership jumped back to that first chapter with a summery re-cut. The model’s iconic black and white was an understandable starting point as the Air DT Max ’96 Low got off the ground, but there’s plenty more where that came from.

Now revealed is a pristine white leather edition, approaching a “Triple White” arrangement but breaking with off-white base layers peering through the jagged cut-outs. Trust that even after his playing days, no Sanders joint is complete without some flash; “Metallic Silver” Swooshes and a similar tint to the Air bubbles ensure that.
