New Balance has suddenly stepped up to the center of the sneaker universe with the impending launch of a new 99x silhouette (we contemplated the best of the series in anticipation.) Surely it’s an occasion worthy of all the pomp and circumstances, but true believers in the Boston brand know this is only one of countless new models that have come out of their warehouses in 2026.
The New Balance 9060R has been a particular fixation of ours, issuing the most radical spin-off for the chunky icon to date, steeped in 993 aesthetics through its redesigned upper. As this “Deep End” colorway emerges, we’re beginning to see how experimental this remodel could be.
Though the parent model was certainly eccentric in its own right, often bolstering its iconoclastic composition with the loud colors to match, this metallic overhaul calls to mind the dynamic between the 1906 and the 1906A. In other words, that industrial sibling offered a chance for Boston’s design team to lose all auspices of grounded color-ups given its new hardware touches; maybe that’s what’re in store for the 9060R as its journey continues.
Future plans aside, the New Balance 9060R “Deep End” has already appeared at some New Balance retail partners. A wider launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but we can confirm that these will cost you $160 no matter where you seek them out.
