New Balance delivered a brand new silhouette this year, leaning into the fashionable trend of slim runners. The 204L is a success in our book, with a handful of collaborations to introduce the shoe followed by stellar in-line styles, like this grey & yellow pair, coming soon.

The 204L merges early-2000s running inspiration with minimalist style for 2025. Its low-profile silhouette draws on ’70s runner proportions, while layered suede and mesh uppers give it a rich, textured feel. Details like arced overlays, an oversized “N” logo, and a thin, sporty outsole nod to NB heritage, yet it presents as a fresh addition to the lifestyle lineup. Colorways like “Mushroom” and “Silver Metallic” build on its versatility, as well as projects with Kith, Basketcase and Auralee adding some hype to the shoe’s debut.

Like any recent addition to New Balance’s catalog, the brand takes their time to roll out their standard-issue styles. The 204L has already had a handful of releases hit shelves like the recent “metallic” pack and a nice “Ice Blue” iteration. Now, the Boston brand is diving into their iconic grey color palette for the next release, giving the model a more classic NB styling. The new pair sports a grey mesh underlay with matching light grey suede outer layers. The leather panels in between come in a darker gunmetal grey shade, while bright yellow accents for the shoe’s branding and inner lining are the finishing touch.

The next in-line pairs of New Balance’s 204L silhouette have not been officially announced yet, but are coming soon in Fall 2025. The latest look bring a classic palette of grey shades to the slim runner, adding a bright yellow accent for a little touch of color. Pairs will be available through both New Balance channels and select retailers for $120.
