Generally, you don’t want to mess with the classics. Look to how reviled certain Retro bring-backs have been when they’ve diverged from the OGs; slightly altered versions like the Jordan 9 “Olive Concord” or the spate of Jumpman-branded originals in the 2010s are generally recognized as serious miscues out of Jordan Brand. Yet “The Ten” collection from Virgil Abloh and other modern marvels demonstrate that the right experimentation can take even vaunted designs to new heights. Which will be the fate of the Jordan DMSN 95?
Taking the Air Jordan 11 down the “Restomod” path that the Jordan Ultra, Jordan MVP 92 and Jordan 4 RM have previously walked is inherently a high-wire act, and we won’t pull the wool over your eyes and claim this takedown effort will ever be a resale darling. But maybe this silhouette has a Jordan 11 IE cult classic future ahead of it.
As always, it’ll come down to the right colorway options, and to our eye, this “Reverse Bred” style variation continues a streak of sensible looks. Fire red suede mudguards and synthetic cages bring life to a jet black foundation underneath, while yellow branding allows this pair to flirt with “Ferrari” editions of old.
