Lil Yachty and friends have teased a number of Concrete Boys x Nike sneakers, mixing samples with actual retail releases. This week adds another Air Force 1 Mid to the list, dressed in an appropriate concrete-inspired color scheme.
The relationship between Lil Yachty and Nike officially began in 2024, when the two release their first Concrete Boys-edition Air Force 1 Low. The special project was simple, adding navy blue accents to an otherwise all-white AF1. The shoe was popular, racking up some Sneaker of the Year nominations, but also plenty of discourse about what kind of shoe deserves a SOTY nod. Many argued that a simple recolor with an extra branding hit is not the sort of shoe we should be elevating to the best of a year, and I happen to agree. Luckily, Yachty had plenty more CB projects in the works, all of which have delivered on better color blocking. The only other pair to release so far is the patent green & yellow style, though green croc leather and bred styles have also been teased.
This year, the Concrete Boys-branded Air Force 1 surfaced in a mid cut for the first time, sporting a stealthy black color scheme with neon green piping around each panel of the shoe. That style has remained silent for the last month, and now a second pair of Mids has surfaced, also taking a more unique approach to colors and materials. The new look features a grey-based fuzzy textile for the entire shoe’s build, down to wrapping around the midsole. The look is similar to Nike’s recycled knit textile from the now-defunct Space Hippie program in 2020, which mixed predominantly grey threads with flecks of color.
The latest pair of Concrete Boys’ take on the Nike Air Force 1 Mid has no planned release right now, though given the appearance of other CB mids this year, we will likely see some of these styles hit shelves in 2026. The latest pair seems to take some inspiration from actual concrete, with a grey-based color for a shaggy felt-like material that has many similarities to Nike’s recycled knit textiles from a few years back. Hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on these in the future to see what the material is all about.
