Supreme Is Bringing Back The Notorious Nike Courtposite From 2002

In 2002, Nike brought the infamous Foamposite material to the sport of tennis, spawning the Nike Courtposite. It was short-lived and not well-received by tennis players, with Andre Agassi himself refusing to wear the shoes. Considering the amount of wears it takes for Foamposite to truly break in, it’s not a surprise that the foam-molded sneaker failed to win the hearts of tennis players at the time.

However, it appears that the notorious shoe is making a return sometime in 2023. Revealed on Instagram by pro tennis player and Nike athlete Carlos Alcaraz, the Supreme x Nike Courtposite is back in its original design, but with Supreme’s brand name infused into the molded upper. For now, an olive/black pair is confirmed in the same OG-style two-toned colorblocking, but you can certainly expect more colorways considering Supreme tends to drop its collabs in multiples. Additionally, it’s not confirmed if the Courtposite will drop as a solo in-line release, although that seems likely.

At this point, it’s not clear if it’s even Supreme’s decision to bring back these obscure models, or if Nike hand-selects them and leverages Supreme’s name to raise awareness. Regardless, it’s yet another unexpected collaboration/re-issue to come forward from this partnership, but one that should raise eyebrows nonetheless.

With the U.S. Open commencing today in Flushing, Queens, expect more surprises from Nike Sportswear’s tennis activities throughout the major tournament.
