The king of the “dad shoe” has yet another new chunky model on the horizon for 2026. Adding to a category that already includes the New Balance 9060 and 2000, the Boston brand has taken to Paris Fashion Week with a futuristic silo called the New Balance 5030 – a fresh spin on the ubiquitous 530 silhouette featuring a larger sole and a new molded leather upper.

Here we have a first look at a sample collab by Italian retailer Slam Jam, the vehicle through which New Balance will bring the model to the masses later this year (general release styles will follow). The upper is made from glossy metallic silver leather, featuring rounded protruded areas and flat embossing for definition throughout. We’re immediately reminded of the “blobby” design language of the late ’90s and early 2000s, which is also a key reference in the design of the New Balance 2000. Underfoot is an all-new midsole with large, sculpted lines and New Balance’s ABZORB SBS cushioning in the rear, the same system used on popular cuts like the 2002R and 1906R.

The New Balance 5030 doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected to drop sometime later this year. See detailed images below and stay tuned for further updates.
