Christmas is coming up quick, and sneaker brands likely have a ton of special releases in store for the holidays. Today, we have our first look at SGA’s Converse Shai 001 in its themed colorway, dressing the shoe in red and green tones.

Christmas-themed basketball shoes emerged in the late 2000s as brands began releasing special holiday colorways for marquee athletes on Christmas Day games. Nike helped popularize the trend with festive LeBron, Kobe, and KD models featuring bright reds, greens, metallic accents, and playful themes like wrapping paper or ornaments. Adidas and Under Armour soon followed, creating holiday editions for their signature athletes as Christmas Day became a showcase moment for new designs. This year, Converse is joining in on the fun with their latest signature model.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Shai 001 silhouette made a splash earlier this season when it finally made it into the hands of the public. The sleek, zippered model is part performance, part style, and has released in special tonal colorways so far. This week, we have a first look at the first break in the pattern, which dresses the model in a “Christmas” themed look. The pair sports a Winter Red shade across all the textile elements as well as the midsole. Dark green accents appear on the zippers, tongue branding, and outsole accents.

CONVERSE SHAI 001 “CHRISTMAS” RELEASE INFORMATION

The next release of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Converse Shai 001 has not been officially announced yet, but is rumored to release on December 11th, 2025. The new “Christmas” look is the first to stray from the tonal color blocking, donning a Winter Red tone with dark green accents. Pairs will be available from Converse, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers for $130.
