Forever the outdoorsman, the next Salehe Bembury x New Balance project gets specific in its interpretation of the natural world. The “Calm Be The Crater” New Balance 992 is now on the horizon, with Salehe Bembury shouting out Crater Lake in both the title and the peripherals surrounding this shoe.

Outfitted with oceanic blue mesh and arboreal green shaggy suede overlays, this shoe arrives with the usual range of cartoonish campaign images from the NYC native. However, in lieu of a name like Vic Mensa or Luis Guzman, Oregon’s Crater Lake is the co-star, clearly juxtaposing its mountain textures and temperate palette against Bembury’s interpretation of the lifestyle titan.

This Earth (not earth) shaded pair pays off what the vaunted designer flexed in his recently published book. Notably, this “Calm Be The Crater” colorway was joined by a far rosier edition that’s yet to hit the newswire. One project ago, the sunset-toned New Balance 1000 received its only release via a Black Friday sitewide sale that came without much advance warning; perhaps that’s a staple moving forward, and we’ll see a second 992 crop up shortly.
