The New Balance 1906R remains a cornerstone of New Balance’s retro running lineup, still showing up in fresh styles season after season despite plenty of potential successors. This newly surfaced Light Grey pair doesn’t reinvent the wheel from a color standpoint, but it does bring something different to the table with a few outdoor-minded tweaks.

The first and most noticeable update is the lacing setup, as the standard sport laces are swapped out for a drawstring system reminiscent of Salomon footwear. The base also appears to use a tighter-knit textile than your average GR, still breathable but likely better suited to handling moisture and dirt. Light Grey suede overlays keep things familiar, while brown N-lock logos add some subtle contrast. ABZORB SBS cushioning in the heel delivers a high level of comfort.
