When was the last time Nike dropped a high-top signature basketball shoe? If the LeBron 19 counts, it’s been over five years since the brand gave a high-top treatment to one of its signature athletes, embodying and emboldening the shift to low-tops championed decades ago by dudes like Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant. While that’s entirely in tune with the preferences of the modern hooper, it also opens up an opportunity, the modern high-top market left almost completely untapped no matter where you look in the performance basketball space.
Enter the Nike Ja 4 High, Nike Basketball’s first high-top signature shoe in years set to release as part of the brand’s Halloween 2026 lineup. Not unlike the Air Jordan 28, arguably the Jumpman’s best-performing basketball model ever, the Ja 4 High is anchored by an all-encompassing shroud with a zipper enclosure over the top of the ankle. Ja’s signature arrow-shaped logo is used liberally throughout as a decorative pattern, appearing large around the rear and smaller around the front half. The same tongue and lacing setup seen on the standard version sits underneath the shroud, albeit covered entirely.
As for the colorway, thanks to the timing of the release, a “Red October” comparison is right there for the taking. The upper is done up in University Red, save for Medium Olive metallic hits on the reverse Swoosh and midfoot shank. The insoles confirm the shoe’s place in the Nike Halloween 2026 lineup, featuring graffiti inspired “Twelve Time” branding and a Joker-inspired graphic of Ja’s face at the heel.
The Nike Ja 4 High retails for $180, well over the base model’s standard $130 to $140 sticker price. Check out official images below and stay tuned for updates over the coming weeks.
