Nike’s soccer-inspired sneaker releases will continue well after the World Cup’s closing ceremonies. This week, we have an official look at a “Neon” pair of the Air max Joga Bonita, coming this Fall.

Nike began repurposing older soccer shoes for lifestyle in 2025, with the Total 90 III. The indoor boot was first teased in Summer 2024 during a SNKRS Showcase livestream, well before the actual release in March ’25. Since then the T90 has been a staple of the Swoosh’s catalog, appearing in dozens of in-line styles, collaborations, and special in-house projects. For this Summer’s World Cup celebration, Nike dug up an array of old boots, encasing their cleats in clear rubber for the Cryoshot line, and now those boots are getting a proper retrofit for the Joga Bonita line. The silhouette combines the Mercurial R9 upper with the Air Max 95’s midsole, merging Nike’s football and running history into one style. Previously released in the OG blue & gold look, the Joga Bonito R9 has now surfaced in a “Neon” color scheme, nodding to the classic AM95 look. The pair comes in mixed shades of grey for the swirling upper, with black soles, white tongues, and neon accents to complete the look.

Nike has yet to announce any official release plans for their next Air Max Joga Bonita colorways, though this pair is currently expected to release in Fall 2026. The “Neon” look draws inspiration from the AM95 classic, modifying the black and grey palette to fit the swooping lines of the Mercurial R9 boot, with just enough neon yellow accents to evoke the beloved OG colorway. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $180.
