New Balance’s 1300 has stuck around past its fortieth anniversary celebration last year, instead of disappearing for five years as per usual. This week the vintage runner has resurfaced with a new Made in USA style, bringing a Slate grey finish to a pebbled leather upper, releasing soon.

The 1300 from New Balance was originally released in 1985, and encapsulated everything excellent about the ’80s running scene in one sneaker. The sleek silhouette features a simple build, mixing mesh and nubuck leather overlays, prioritizing comfort and durability above all. The model quickly became an important piece of the brand’s history, getting its first retro release just ten years later in 1995. Since then, the silhouette has returned every five years, heralded by the Japan edition for each new series. The latest retro has been a bit different, sticking around into 2026 and even joining the brand’s Made in USA line. This week, the 1300 has emerged in another edition for the Made in USA line, under the creative direction of ALD’s Teddy Santis. The new look pits the runner in a pebbled leather upper colored in dark slate grey tones. This is paired with a tan mesh forefoot, tan suede collar underlay, and a shaggy suede N logo to complete the look.

The next installment of New Balance’s Made in USA 1300 is currently expected to arrive in June 2026, though the brand has not announced a set date yet. This new edition combines mesh, suede, and pebbled leather across the runner’s upper, cast mainly in Slate grey tones with tan and black accents, and a dark sole unit underneath. Pairs will be available from both NB and select retailers, likely retaining the recent $220 price tag.
