New Balance’s Made in UK division has taken to seasonal offerings of their 991v2, a model exclusive to the Flimby, England manufacturing plant. This year’s “Summer Brights” pack features one green and one blue option, coming soon.
The 991v2 has become a flagship model for New Balance’s Made in UK division. The silhouette was first introduced in 2023 as an update to 2001’s 991, at the time a new entry in the fan-favorite 99x family that has continued to introduce new members into this decade. The v2 update modified some of the shoe’s shape, introducing a slimmer, more low-profile silhouette for the upper, and shifted the 991 badge from the heels to the outer side of each heel.
The 991v2 quickly became a regular release from the Flimby facility, each pair manufactured by hand with premium materials and exquisite choice in colors. The design team has slowly introduced seasonal collections for the retro runner, the latest of which pits the model in “Summer Brights” for the new sunny season. The first pair in the new pack comes in Green Banana, pairing a light, pastel shade of green suede with a darker olive mesh base layer, classic NB grey accents, and navy blue branding hits. The second look comes in Baja Blue, a bright, water-like shade of blue suede paired with a darker tone for the mesh underlay. This look also features grey accents and navy blue branding.
