Even as things stood at the end of the playoffs, Tyrese Maxey was rightfully one of the brightest faces on New Balance’s roster. His first starting selection on the All-Star team, his first All-NBA nods, and a seven-game series win against the rival Boston Celtics were only concrete confirmation of what the eye test had been saying for years; Tyrese Maxey is and will be a defining part of Philadelphia basketball for the long haul, now with the shoes to match.
In comes Jaylen Brown, out goes Paul George, and, unbelievably, in comes LeBron James. How the star-studded roster of Philadelphia will take shape under Nick Nurse is a massive question, but one thing is clear; more eyes than ever will be on Maxey’s game. For the Boston brand, that’s furtiutous timing, as 2026-27 will be the first season in which #0 will wear his debut signature shoe, the New Balance Maxey V1. First unveiled in April and worn on-court during the post-season, now NB lets loose the most comprehensive angles, tech specs, and design details to date.

I wanted my shoe to have an iconic look that you don’t need to see the ‘N’ to know it’s a New Balance shoe. To me, the 9060 is a classic NB silhouette, so I pulled a lot of inspiration from that to bring lifestyle to the basketball court. – Tyrese Maxey on the inspirations behind the Maxey V1.
The wavy outriggers that cut across the uppers are easily the defining aspect of this shoe, aligning with the wavy midsole design and sculpted heel. It’s an energetic choice befitting of Maxey’s electric speed, with the slim sole design a true point of distinction compared to other NB Hoops models. As detailed by Maxey above, nonetheless you can see echoes of the company’s other designs; the 9060 inspo is obvious, but the lace unit borrows from the 2002 while the overall shape is comparable to the P350.
From a performance standpoint, the New Balance Maxey V1 utilizes a novel plate design in which two distinct pieces anchor the design underfoot rather than one joined system. Fuelcell foam defines the midsole, with the midfoot and arch design aimed at overall containment. Multidirectional traction on the outsole finishes out.
The first Tyrese Maxey signature shoes, the New Balance Maxey v1, drop on October 2nd via NewBalance.com and partnering retailers, first arriving in this black/blue colorway for $130. Additional pairs will drop throughout the 2026-27 season.
