If you’re as equally invested in fashion in general as you are with footwear, New Balance is dropping the collaboration for you. Sigurd Bank’s mfpen, one of the hottest and most sought-after menswear labels on the planet, is dropping its first-ever sneaker collaboration on the timeless New Balance 992 silhouette, unveiled during the brand’s Spring/Summer 2027 runway show at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Lean, agile, and world famous, mfpen transforms deadstock fabric left over from other brands’ manufacturing into limited product runs, a sustainable and cost-effective practice that’s become more and more commonplace in recent years. Of course, that’s not an alluring selling point if the clothes aren’t good, and they are. The brand is known for its loose, almost Dickies-esque tailoring, a trendy silhouette, sure, but one designed to last in your closet for a long time.

Now, the sneakers. The mfpen x New Balance 992 is understated by design in a quintessential grey colorway, but far from plain. Eyes are first drawn to the “N” logo, or lack thereof, removed and replaced by a subtle silhouette with the stitching holes still there, made to feel like a human being took the time to remove it by hand. And knowing mfpen’s design process, perhaps they were. Grey suede overlays call to mind the model’s core grey colorway, followed by chrome leather underlays in a new twist on tradition. White mesh forms the heart of the upper, while a new, minimalist suede tongue features exposed foam. The gallery below shows white laces with dotted black lines, though it’s likely multiple sets are included.

The mfpen x New Balance 992 releases Spring/Summer 2027, though no concrete pricing or release date has been announced as of this writing. See detailed images below and stay tuned for further updates.
