KITH has been all systems go in the past few weeks as the brand and founder Ronnie Fieg celebrate 15 years of business. Beyond the KITH Footwear Archive, both as a physical installation and an encyclopedia-like book release, Fieg has been on an earnest press run, hosting his own panels and making rare appearances with publications like Forbes. As the confetti settles and we start looking ahead to projects like the 16-shoe Nike KITH collection for next year, it’s back to business (and product) as usual; the KITH x United Arrows & Sons x New Balance 990v3 adds to the slate.

Much like the bring-back of the ASICS GEL-Lyte 3 “Salmon Toe” was tacitly teased within the pages of the Archive, this upcoming three-partner duo was literally on the table for Fieg’s conversation with New Balance’s Chris Davis and frequent collaborator Action Bronson.

For long-time devotees of the New York imprint, you’ll recognize the grey/purple/pink split that dots one version of the New Balance 990v3, established with their work on the New Balance 997 in 2018 and the 990v4 in 2022. The partnership sprung from RF’s love for the 2008 United Arrows 997.5, cited by the designer as his “favorite New Balance colorway ever,” now an intergral piece of his brand’s own history.

The real advancement here is a new green-on-black colorway, allowing electrifying tones to course through an otherwise understated palette; those highlighter tones make their impact in the rear midsole and in the centered “N” stamps. To ensure that the celebratory occasion is tangibly included, 15-year emblems peek out from the insoles of either pair.
