Jason Voorhees Lives On This Nike Air Force 1 Low “Hockey Mask”

Thanks to Jason Voorhees, there are only a few visages in the history of horror as spine-tingling as a hockey mask. Worn by the murderous man-child to cover his deformed face, Jason Voorhees — the chief antagonist of the epic Friday The 13th franchise — transformed a common piece of protective athletic equipment into a mark of terror, so much so that the simple sight of one will send one running in the opposite direction.

The power of Jason’s faceguard is displayed on this upcoming Air Force 1 Low. Nike has rearranged the original starburst pattern of perforations on the toe-box and added larger holes to mimic a hockey mask. The rest of the low-top sneaker follows an all-white leather build, proving that little else needs to be done in order to establish true shock and fear. The paper that lines the shoe-box also depicts a body of water, which could be a potential tie to Crystal Lake where young Jason first perished.

These are not a collaboration between Nike and the Friday The 13th franchise by any means, but merely a fun variation of the ’82 classic. Instead, Nike leaves it up to the fans to draw connections where they may. Back in 2007, Nike SB actually dropped a Dunk High inspired by Jason as part of the Horror Pack that almost included the infamous Freddy Krueger SB Dunks. A custom variation of the shoe made by Warren Lotas was the subject of a legal battle with Nike back in 2020.

Official images have just been revealed, and although release information eludes us, it’ll catch up to us soon. Hopefully we’ll see a drop before the Halloween holiday.
