The King of New York, so too, is the current King of Kobes. While the Knicks’ reign over the Eastern Conference is currently on life support, at least the second half of that equation is holding true. On the Mecca’s hardwood against the Dallas Mavericks, Jalen Brunson broke from his usual penchant for the Kobe 6, turning spokesman as he sported a “Knicks” colorway of the Kobe 3 Low Protro.
First teased by Vanessa Bryant in a “Halo” colorway, this provides another look at the chopdown effort for the Kobe’s third signature, maintaining the defining crosshatch pattern in the upper and the sole unit but cutting closer to later beloved editions like the 4, 6, or 8. In terms of the palette here, things are relatively easily digestible, coated in comprehensive neon orange before broken by shining blue Swooshes on the heels. As evidenced by the enduring presence of the Kobe 9 EM, even if Nike hems close to the original lines with select High cut releases, the brand is fully aware that the Kobe line has become a low-cut enterprise at large, something tapped into with the oft-overlooked construction of the Kobe 3.
It’s unclear whether the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro “Jalen Brunson” PE will ever hit retail, but even if it does, it’ll likely be a matter of months before that comes to pass. For now, check out some in-game shots embedded within the gallery below.
