Nike just released their new Mind footwear line, which takes concepts from neuroscience and applies them to footwear. Just a week after the debut, Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment has revealed a special pair of the Mind 001 done up in black for his brand.
The relationship between Fragment Design and Nike is one of sneaker culture’s most respected creative partnerships. Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara first began working with Nike in the late 2000s, applying his minimalist aesthetic and signature double-lightning bolt branding to classic silhouettes like the Tennis Classic, Air Footscape, and Dunks early on. In 2014, they released their masterpiece, the FRGMNT x Air Jordan 1, an incredible collectors piece that has become a holy grail in the sneaker world. Since then, the two have released many more interesting projects, including a rehashing of their Dunk High city series.
This week, Hiroshi Fujiwara teased a new project from Nike, focusing on the Mind 001 slipper that debuted just last week. The new Mind line is driven by neuroscience, taking advantage of pressure points on the soles of your feet for a pre- and post-workout shoe built for recovery. The new models use spheres inserted in the soles to apply pressure, which are only visible from the underside of each pair. Fragment’s take on the Mind 001 is as minimal as ever, dressed entirely in black with blue pressure points underneath. The lightning bold logo appears at the toe, printed on the textile tongue section, while more Fragment logos are added around the heels.
At this time, there is no release information regarding a Fragment x Mind 001 release, though printing on the shoes suggest they could arrive sometime in Spring 2026. However, Fujiwara did not specifically indicate if or when they will drop.
