Foot Locker and Nike are taking over Crenshaw with The Crenshaw Rec, a new retail and community space opening August 22nd in one of Southern California’s most historic Black neighborhoods. The destination is a reflection of the community itself, blending exclusive product with an open gym, equipment room, creative workspaces, and year-round community programming.

The late Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon Brand, known in the streetwear world for its script “Crenshaw” apparel, played a leading role in shaping the space, as did LA designer Gavin Mathieu of Supervsn Studios, Crenshaw High School, and more local artists and vendors. Foot Locker has also announced the Crenshaw Striper Program, a community initiative geared toward hiring local Crenshaw residents to shape the in-store experience.

The grand opening will see a 3v3 basketball tournament and Community Swap Meet. Exclusive product includes a Crenshaw High School x Nike Team Shop collection and a capsule designed by Mathieu, with plenty more to come. The Crenshaw Rec is located at 3222 W Slauson Ave. in South Los Angeles and opens August 22nd. Stay tuned for images of the space before the grand opening.
