As a spiked version of the Nike Vomero Premium recently came to light, we boldly stated that the super-stacked runner was in its “weird era.” Yet those who have been following the silhouette and its peers in Nike’s revamped running library know that they’ve been straying from staid semblances for some time.

Animal prints were truly the canary in the coal mine in that regard, tipping off an experimental spree that’s touched realtree outfits and ultra-distressed fare under the purview of Melitta Baumeister, the latter making for both the Vomero and Pegasus Premium‘s biggest resale hits to date. Wedged in the middle of that series came a Fleur De Lis version of the Vomero Plus, seeming to justify that traditional imagery with a Bourbon Street style mix of aged browns and beiges.

Now returning for this “Geyser Grey/Metallic Silver,” official Nike copy specifically calls out that Fleur De Lis print, yet we’re searching a bit for the aesthetic backing on this pair. Though not immedaitely clear where, if any, the New Orleans connection may be, the combo of steely uppers and a bright red cushioning unit underfoot certainly makes for a striking profile, only adding a fashionable edge to a shoe whose performance bona fides are beyond reproach.
