Much in the same way the Nike Kobe 9 EM has handled the “Team Bank” style colorways for Bryant’s line, we’ve become accustomed to novel editions of snakeskin Forces bearing his name hitting the shelves every few weeks, building out a veritable palette of lifestyle options to bring the Mamba Mentality into your everyday outfits.

In addition, the Uptown has carried more sentimental, narrative-heavy fare into the fray via pairs like the “Frobe” or, recently, the “Siempre Hermanos,” delivering looks steeped in the life and times of #8 (or #24). A third, least populous vein has revisited past takes, with the portrait graphic “Linen” the chief representative to date.

The latest, the Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Protro “Denim,” brings a grail to the fore for the first time, with an extremely limited run of the colorway at hand arriving in 2006 as part of a PE spree on Bruce Kilgore’s design. Word that this was in the cards first came almost a year ago, and what we noted there seems to hold; this retake remains true to the heavy, hardy blues in the upper and orange trim, including on contrast stitching and a Sheath logo on the heel counter. Given the “Protro” in the title, we can expect a ReactX drop-in midsole to help ease this pair’s transition into the modern landscape.

The Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Protro “Denim” is expected to debut sometime in the Summer window (between now and the end of June), retailing for $150.
