Last month we had news of a Nike SB ‘Color of the Month’ project, tapping select skate shops to give their take on the SB Air Force 1. Today, we have an early look at Instant Skateboards’ pair, coming holiday 2026.

Nike’s history with Color of the Month Air Force 1s begins way back in the 1980s, shortly after the silhouette’s debut in ’82. The Swoosh was uncertain about keeping the AF1 in their catalog moving forward, and were prepared to eliminate the model from their basketball offerings. Three stores in Baltimore, Downtown Locker Room, Cinderella Shoes, and Charley Rudo Sports, requested Nike keep the shoe in production as it was their best seller. They also asked for a rotating series of special colorways, which would keep customers coming back for more. Nike obliged, keeping the AF1 alive and transforming it into the street style icon we know, over forty years later.

Nike SB’s modified version of the Air Force 1 finally arrived earlier this year, but new colors have been elusive since its debut. There seem to be plenty of new styles in the works, from in-line styles like the Chocolate and Navy pairs, to a collaboration with Yuto Horigome. The SB team is also cooking up their own version of a Color of the Month series, tapping several retailers around the world for their color of choice for the AF1. The first pair to surface from this collection was Ben-G‘s brown and purple style, and today we have an early look at Instant Skateboards’ special color. Their pair comes in a black suede upper, adding royal blue accents for the Swooshes, heels, and outsoles. The same color is used for their branding on the lateral heels.

INSTANT SKATEBOARDS X NIKE SB AIR FORCE 1 RELEASE INFORMATION

The ‘Color of the Month’ series from Nike SB featuring the Air Force 1 has yet to begin its releases, with this pair from Instant Skateboards expected to arrive during the holiday 2026 season, in the final months of the year. Their take on the basketball-turned-skate shoe comes in a black suede upper with royal blue accents, and their store’s branding on the outer heels. Pairs are expected to release globally from SB skate shops, with a price tag of $120.
