EXCLUSIVE: Nike Cortez ‘Forrest Gump’ Returns Summer 2024

The Nike Cortez was originally released in 1972 and in 2022, the silhouette celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Two years after celebrating the half a century milestone, the brand will re-release the Nike Cortez ‘Forrest Gump’ in premium form.

The ‘Forrest Gump’ Nike Cortez last released in OG form back in 2018, while a ‘Basic’ version dropped in 2019. In 2023, we saw CLOT take the silhouette and put their own spin on it, with one of the three colorways dressed in the classic color scheme.

On July 6, 1994, the film ‘Forrest Gump’ was released in theaters. In the film, Forrest, played by Tom Hanks, was gifted the OG Cortez by Jenny Curran (Robin Wright) before he goes on a run. The shoes would take him on a 15,000 mile run before he would stop and go home, due to tiredness. This scene is where the nickname comes from.

The iconic Cortez comes dressed in a White, Varsity Red, Varsity Blue, and Metallic Silver color combination. Constructed with White leather on the base with Red across the tongue branding, heel overlay, and large Swoosh across the panels. The signature stripe on the midsole is done in Blue, while White hits the Nike branding on the heels, and we have Silver lace dubraes. Completing the look is a waffle rubber outsole.

You can expect the Nike Cortez ‘Forrest Gump’ to release at select retailers and Nike.com during Summer 2024. Currently, a retail price is unknown. Once we have more information, we will make sure to update you. For now, check out additional photos of the previous launch below.
