One of streetwear’s most recognizable labels is joining forces with adidas. Sneaker News can exclusively confirm that Denim Tears will release its first collaboration with adidas during the Winter 2026 season, with at least two footwear releases currently expected to arrive in November.
The partnership will see Tremaine Emory’s label take on two of the most iconic silhouettes in the adidas Originals catalog: the Superstar and Stan Smith. Exact release dates, pricing, and design details have yet to be confirmed, and additional footwear could potentially be part of the project.
Founded by Emory in 2019, Denim Tears has become one of the most influential fashion labels to emerge from the streetwear world in recent years. Much of its work explores Black American history and the African Diaspora, using clothing as a vehicle to examine stories and imagery that have shaped the Black American experience.
Its signature Cotton Wreath motif has become an especially powerful example, transforming historically loaded imagery into one of contemporary streetwear’s most recognizable graphics. Denim Tears’ work has since reached cultural institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and the SCAD Museum of Art, while collaborations have included Levi’s, Stüssy, Our Legacy, Corteiz, and more.
Emory himself has occupied an influential position at the intersection of fashion, music, art, and streetwear for years. In addition to founding creative collective No Vacancy Inn, he famously became Supreme’s first-ever creative director, holding the position for roughly a year and a half before departing after alleging systemic racism and a lack of transparency within the company.
Denim Tears also has some history in footwear. Its previous work with Converse included a Chuck 70 project informed by Marcus Garvey and Pan-African colors, offering an example of how Emory has used a familiar sneaker silhouette as another canvas for his distinct storytelling. Emory was also a member of the ASICS Collective, a band of creatives formed by Awake NY’s Angelo Baque; through that project, Tremaine launched a two-part ASICS GEL-MC Plus collab in 2021.
What Denim Tears has planned for the Superstar and Stan Smith remains to be seen. For now, Sneaker News can confirm that both shoes are expected to arrive in November 2026, marking the beginning of Denim Tears’ partnership with adidas.
