Earlier this year, we sat down with Donovan Mitchell to discuss his latest signature adidas shoe, the DON Issue #6. After a long day of media work beforehand, the Cleveland Cavs star came into our Q&A with his snack of choice; Haribo Goldbears. Now that the new Spida signature has rolled out out the public, we’re pleased to inform you that Haribo and adidas have officially joined forces on two collaborative pairs releasing in October.

One design hones in on tropical flavors with soft pink and green treatments landing gently over a white base. The green shade does most of the heavy lifting, pasted onto the stripes and eyelets, while both colors appear in an abstract pattern over the foam around the tongue. The other features a more lively aesthetic, doused almost entirely in bright red.

As with most projects of this nature, branded touches are what make for a truly special capsule. On both pairs, the Haribo logo appears through a semi-translucent sole, the world-famous Bear mascot hops onto the insoles, and the backtab features Haribo text as opposed to “DON” lettering. Fittingly, adidas has also crafted packaging inspired by the iconic Haribo Goldbears pouch, complete with comic-style typography and a large cut-out that reveals what’s inside.

The project marks an important milestone as the first DON Issue #6 collaboration to date, continuing a long like of Donovan Mitchell shoes crafted hand-in-hand with Don’s favorite brands. In our conversation, Mitchell cited his Marvel, Crayola, and Bel-Air Athletics shoes as some of his favorites to date.
