On top of the firehose volume that New Balance is trotting out new models (the 1890A, 1890 proper, 5030, P400, and Gator Run all either getting first releases or pre-drop teases since the year started), the Boston brand has continually nodded to their longtime fans by swapping in and out their defining product of the past decade and change.

With the New Balance 992 somewhat recently making its return to the mainline following a Joe Freshgoods/KITH/Action Bronson assisted rollout, the original 991 is now stepping back in, itself heralded by longtime partner Aime Leon Dore. Following a luxurious all-brown, now a new type of upper echelon aesthetic comes to the fore with this New Balance 991 “Cream Croc.” As implied by that (unofficial) title, scaly leather paces the upper of this shoe, which stands united in the off-white shades that NB has never shied away from.

The New Balance 991 “Cream Croc” is populating overseas retailers now, so be ready for this pair to respond stateside in short order. Don’t be shocked to see the model’s newly premium sticker price remain for this one; a recent MiUK pair clocked in at $270.
